Ap Siencyn (Son of Jenkin) – Banjo TAB

Banjo arrangement of Ap Siencyn

Ap Siencyn sometimes called Son of Jenkin is another tune from Wales.  Word has it that it was composed in the early 1800’s and might have originally been called Snowdon.

This is a CHALLENGING song, so not for beginners.  The song is in 6/8 time signature and you will want to have a firm grasp on single string and melodic style banjo.  I have notated some right-hand fingerings.  However, in 6/8 time signature the gloves are kind of off as far as what you want to do with your fingers.  The traditional T-I-T-I doesn’t always work out.

I actually bring my Middle finger up onto the 3rd string at times.  This makes it easier for me (more than one way to do this!)
