Beginner Banjo: Roll Your Way Into Songs

In this beginner banjo course, I teach you exactly the way I would if you came in for your first lessons. We begin the course by learning how to wear our picks. Next, we talk about how to get the best tone out of the instrument and how to place your hand correctly on the instrument. Good right-hand technique is CRITICAL to getting a great sound out of the instrument.

With our right-hand, we start with the basic pinch pattern.  This pinch pattern helps beginners establish good timing and is found in most songs.

Beginner Banjo Course Materials

This is the material you’ll learn:

  • Your basic roll patterns
  • Your basic G, C, D7, and E minor chords
  • Cumberland Gap
  • Cripple Creek (90 BPM Play-along track provided)
  • Slides and hammer-ons
  • Nine Pound Hammer
  • Train 45

It contains over 1.5 hours of material.  If you can’t come in for one-on-one lessons, or you want to get a head start, this is the best place to start.

There is NO TAB used or distributed for these lessons, it’s all done via slow demonstration.  I believe this is the best way to learn for at least the first two months as it teaches you how to properly think about rolls (group material together rather than think note to note).

How Does The Course Work?

After your purchase goes through, you will receive a link to a hidden YouTube Playlist in your email receipt. It is from there that you can watch all of the videos at your own pace. After purchase, I simply ask that you don’t share this link elsewhere.

The videos aren’t downloadable, you will need an internet connection to view the videos

You will get access to me for any questions you have.

Payment For The Course

I only take PayPal via this website. If you are an international buyer or need to use some other method, you must purchase via Udemy. The price is higher on there as I only receive a small portion of the sales.
