Sail Away Ladies-5 string Banjo TAB

Banjo TAB for Sail Away Ladies

Sail Away Ladies is an old fiddle tune standard played in many Bluegrass Jams.  It’s VERY similar to another bluegrass standard called Sally Anne.

This TAB comes from my arrangement found here.  It mixes single string with rolls.  For the intermediate banjo player.

The Form of the Tune is AABB (Sometimes known as verse-verse-chorus-chorus).  So you’ll repeat the 1st section and the 2nd section to complete the song.

Please understand, this TAB is in an odd format regarding the number of measures on each line.  One line is two measures, another might be three measures.

This is because there is a lot of syncopation and held notes (ties) from one measure to the next.  The measures had to be done like this for it to be readable and make sense.

I did a bit of reharmonizing, as opposed to just using the standard G,C, and D major chords.  I threw an Eminor and Aminor in my arrangement.  It’s a folk song, so you’ll hear it a number of different ways on recordings.
