Online Music Technology Lessons
In my online music technology lessons, I can help you learn to be a more rounded musician or music educator with all of these nifty programs. In today’s world, musicians need to learn how to use technology to their advantage. It improves your sound, helps your organization, and, most of all, it’s a HEAP of fun!!
Musescore Lessons
Musescore is a completely free and open-source music notation program. I use Musescore to create all of my TABS and sheet music. It can not only be used to create TABS, but you can use it for playback or play-along purposes as well. As the program has grown more powerful, sometimes looking up things on Youtube isn’t enough or takes a lot of time to weed through. Most importantly, as the program is updated, old YouTube videos aren’t as useful. I can help you get there faster, as I use the program daily.
- Learn how to use the Master Palette for more complex notation
- Learn how to quickly generate tabs and various formatting possibilities
- Create Chord Charts
- Create standard musical notation for single or multiple instruments
- Create charts with both TAB and standard notation on the staves.
Logic Pro X
Logic Pro X is the primary tool I use to record all of my material or edit my video audio with. Even if you aren’t looking to become an audio engineer or professional musician, learning how to use software like Logic Pro can greatly enhance your musical production. For example, most of my quick YouTube videos are made using only my iPhone, and I use Logic to enhance the sounds afterwards (makes a big difference).
- Learn how to EQ your recordings so they sound cleaner and less noisy
- Learn how to add reverb and how to apply it correctly
- Learn how to use compression to smooth out your recordings
- Learn how to stage mics so you get just the right volume and ambience
- Learn to use the piano roll and digital instruments/MIDI
- Learn how to add effects like delay, chorus, saturation, and more on your recordings.
If you don’t currently own Logic Pro (around $200), don’t worry, I can teach you how to use GarageBand (free for iphone and imac users), Audacity (free/open-source), or any of the basics of any DAW you might have. General knowledge works across all platforms.
